Commit a migration session with cleanup

Unisphere supports a migration application to provide a method for migrating data from a source storage system to a target storage system. The cleanup option provides an option to cleanup the source array after the migration is completed, Storage Group resources can then be repurposed.

Prerequisites

The state of the migration session is CutoverSync, CutoverNoSync, or Synchronized.

When the Cleanup option is selected, it deletes:

  • All migrated Storage Groups that were migrated unless they contain gatekeeper devices or other devices that could not be deleted.
  • All migrated Host Groups and Port Groups that are not used by other masking views.
  • Hosts and Storage Groups, they are removed from any parents before deletion.
  • All migrated devices if they are in Storage Groups that are not migrated or used by other applications.
  • Gatekeeper devices are not deleted as they are not migrated.
  • All snapshots including clone relationships on the devices. Cleanup unlinks any linked snapshots.

About this task

The cleanup option deletes all the migrated resources or none of the migrated resources. Cleanup is not possible if:

  • Secure snapshots are present.
  • Protection Policy snapshots are present.
  • ORS relationships are present.
  • The SRDF DR session is partitioned.
  • The SRDF DR session is in the transidle state.
  • The SRDF DR session is cascaded.
  • Presence of secure snapshots on the remote DR devices.
  • Presence of Protection or Cloud snapshots on the remote DR devices.
  • Have Protection or Cloud Policies on their storage group.
  • Remote DR devices are mapped to non-aclx enabled ports.
  • SGs and MVs with devices other than the remote DR devices.
  • The remote DR devices are part of enabled RDF CG groups.
  • The migrated TDEVs are in other Storage Groups that were not migrated.
  • The migrated TDEVs are in other Storage Groups that are used by other features.
  • Gatekeeper devices are in the Storage Groups.

To commit a migration session:

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select Data Protection > Migrations.
  3. Select the Sessions tab.
  4. Select a storage group and click Commit.
    For a migration where the source is SAN WWNs, the source field displays the serial number of the source storage system.
  5. Select Cleanup.
    The Force option is displayed.
  6. Optional: Select Force
    The Force option allows the validation to complete and ignores any potential blockers.
  7. Review the summary and do one of the following:
    • Click Run Now to perform the operation now.
    • Expand Run Now and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
